Dear chessfriends,
It is an honour to me to invite you to the 19th CZECH OPEN Festival in Pardubice. World School Teams Championship will take place during this year's festival again (you can find more detailed information in the separate regulations). For the fifth time some of the tournaments have been granted the status Open European Amateurs Championship. The festival will be played in the big hall of CEZ Arena and at the exhibition and social centre Ideon.
Due to the strengthening of the Czech crown, the increase of VAT, the rental, postage and other items we have been forced to increase starting fees, although it was not our intention this year. We have tried to do it in an acceptable way for you.
The news of the chess part of the festival is a morning FIDE open with 7 rounds, which will take place in the time of main tournaments and will be interesting especially for those, who would like to play themselves and at the same time watch the grandmaster tournament or to have more time for trips and bathing.
Just as last year we have prepared in cooperation with P. Ministr company three social evenings at the swimming pool with free admission.
Thanks to the Tchibo company free coffee tasting of Jihlavanka will be arranged during the whole festival. There will be free film projections every evening in the castle park. The small football tournament will be on the artificial grass again and crowned with evening final matches and penalty shooting competition.
