Sudoku and Kakuro

CZECH OPEN 2017 - 12th Competition in Sudoku and Kakuro

Advertised tournaments:

A – Sudoku beginners
B – Kakuro
C – Sudoku advanced solvers
D – logical problems solving


Tournament system A, B:
- tournament director: Jiri Zvolanek
- participation of players without age and performance limitations
- the same system as previous years
- Sudoku and Kakuro are logical numerical rebuses (Sudoku – placing of numbers into the given diagram; Kakuro – summational numerical crossword) – in both cases it is worked only with numbers 1 - 9
- it is not necessary to have language knowledge for solving of numerical rebuses
- everybody will obtain competition sheet with chosen type of the numerical rebus which will be solved and handed in on the spot, it is possible to compete 1 x Sudoku rebus and 1 x Kakuro rebus
- it is possible to solve at any time given in the time schedule
- criteria used for ranking: correctly completed diagram of Sudoku or Kakuro, time

Tournament system C, D:

- participation of players without age and performance limitations
- Sudoku is a logical problem, the principle is to place numbers into the given table so that they do not repeat in any lines, columns or bounded places. In addition to this simple classical version there are various Sudoku variants where numbers in the diagram have to comply with other given conditions (sums, parity, consecution, bigger/smaller etc.)..
- most logical problems come from Japan. Placing of numbers  (Kakuro, Sudoku), placing of objects (ships, stars), squares colouring (tapa, nurikabe) diagram division into regions (Shikaku, Fillomino), loop drawing (Masyu, Slitherlink) belong to basic types of problems.
- it is not necessary to have language knowledge for solving of logical problems
- everybody will obtain  acompetition set with the chosen type of problems (Sudoku or logical problems) which will be solved and handed in on the spot, , it is possible to compete 1 x Sudoku solving and 1 x solving of logical problems
- competitor will obtain forward number of points for each correctly solved table
- competitor can hand in a task  anytime (even if he does not solve all problems).

Tipsport arena, Sukova trida 1735, Pardubice, connection from the railway station by trolleybus No. 3 and by bus No. 10, 16 and 17 (4th stop)
